89th Annual Exhibition and
RGA Half Term Takeover 2019
Reading Museum

RGA Half Term Takeover
Mon 18 – Sat 23 February 2019.
Open 10am to 4pm, Activities 10:30 to 15:30 daily

Fun and creative activities for adults and supervised children, on the theme of Medieval Banquet. We have a number of planned activities which are designed to get visitors creating in a three-dimensional way, using flat 2D materials. By the end of the week, we hope to have populated a banquet table with all manner of 3D paper food items, from pies and fruit to a boar's head. We want this to be a multi-sensory experience.

Activities we aim to include:

  • Making 3D food out of various papers;

  • Making 3D tableware (drinking vessels, spoons, knives, candlesticks etc.) from card and foil;

  • A set of 'mystery socks' each filled with a food related item to feel and guess;

  • A Medieval Food game - guess which food items were eaten in Medieval times;

  • Sniff game - guess the food related smell (mint, garlic, orange etc.)

  • Badges/stickers for the participants;

  • Music of a Medieval style.

We need volunteers to monitor and assist with the activities (full info will be given).

We need some initial creations to start the banquet table.

If you can help by making one of the games, or the badges/stickers, that would be fantastic.

If you feel you can offer a couple of hours of your time, please contact LornaWebberVipond@gmail.com or ring 07932 184032 as soon as you can.

If you know any musicians who may be willing to make some acoustic music, we'd love to hear from you.

Please let contacts, friends and family know about this event.
