I take my inspiration mainly from rural and coastal environments, and have a particular fascination with human intervention on the landscape and the resulting tension between permanence and impermanence; ancient monuments and architectural ruins being a favourite theme. I find inspiration from the way these become absorbed into the surrounding environment over time while maintaining some presence of their own, and I try to reflect this in my work through the relationship between land and sky.

I work in oils and acrylics, both in my studio and en-plein air. I have had work exhibited at the Royal Birmingham Society of Artists, Penlee House Gallery, Penzance, ‘The Artist and Leisure Painter Open’ at Patchings Art Centre, nr. Nottingham, and featured in ‘Leisure Painter’ magazine (August 2023). In the summer of 2022 I joined in the fun of participating as a ‘Wild Card’ artist in Series 8 of Sky Arts ‘Landscape Artist of the Year’ at Royal Ascot.
