Earley Painters are untutored sessions hosted by Clare Buchta and Carole Stephens who provide a still-life display to work from. All abilities, newcomers, and non-members are welcome. For further details please contact us.

2026/2027 Programme

15th  September 2026Seascape still life
Draw or paint the set up  in any medium or create a board book using paint, maps, print, text and drawing.
29th September 2026Van Gogh’s bedroom
Studying the work of Van Gogh with a mock up from his painting of his room, including sunflowers as an alternative,  to paint or draw. Any safe medium.
13th October 2026Autumns abundance
Display of fruit ad flowers to interpret in any medium.
27th October 2026Portraits with Frida Kahlo
Hoping to have a model for this session on portraits and Mexican culture. Any safe medium.
10th November 2026Vanitas
Traditional still life in the style of the Dutch school in any safe medium.
24th November 2026Winter Wonderland 
Display of frosted winter objects and branches  to paint or draw. Quink ink, wax, gouache and stencils will be available to experiment with.
8th December 2026Cheers!
Display of seasonal items to celebrate the end of the year. Any safe medium.
12th January 2027Watercolour Woodland with Anne Blockley
Display of woodland items and reference material . Anne Blockley uses a variety of techniques to create dynamic watercolour woodland scenes. Watercolour, ink and gouache is suggested but acrylic could be used as well. Some materials will be available.
26th January 2027Ceramics and Sculpture
Looking at shapes and glazes  with sculptures and ceramics. Any safe medium.
9th February 2027Vintage Tools
Tools from the shed and garage with the patina of time. Display can be illustrated in any safe medium.
23rd February 2027Birds
Study of birds from a display of bird shaped objects. Paint or draw or use negative painting to study the shapes. Acrylic paint available for this technique. Any safe medium.
9th March 2027Spring still life
Everything Spring to paint and draw in any safe medium.
23rd March 2027Vintage household items
A display of retro household items to paint and draw in any safe medium.
6th April 2027Japan
Take a visit to Japan with a display of traditional items under the cherry blossom. Any safe medium.
April 20th 2027Have your cake and eat it 
End of term draw and paint from a display of cakes and crockery.
KEY INFORMATION

Where: Maiden Place Community Centre, Lower Earley, RG6 3EH
When: 1.30 – 4 pm.

£4 per session, cash please payable on the day, no booking required. Parking is available on-site. There is a code entry system at the hall. Please contact us for the code.

What to bring

Please bring your own materials: dry and water-based mediums may be used, such as watercolour, acrylic paints, pen and ink, pencil, and crayons, plus your own preferred supports and sketchbooks. We recommend you also bring along a plastic table covering or newspaper, cloths, or paper towel.
