Press Release

94th Annual Exhibition

After a sparkling opening night, attended by The Right Worshipful the Mayor of Reading, Councillor Alice Mpofu-Coles and a large gathering of visitors, the Reading Guild of Artists’ Annual Exhibition is well underway. Following a welcome by Dr Sarah Marston, Head of the University’s Institute of Education, Dr Hannah Lyons (Curator of the University Art Collections) highlighted the “historic connections between the Guild and the university, and the importance of forging community connections” before awarding prizes and commendations in front of an enthusiastic audience.

The exhibition continues until 29th June at the University’s beautiful cloistered London Road Campus. Visitors will see nearly 400 paintings, prints, ceramics, collages and sculptures by 100 RGA artists, ranging from striking abstract pieces to quiet still lifes, portraits and landscapes. Many of the works are for sale, making it the perfect opportunity for visitors to purchase original art by local artists.

There are still some spaces left at a series of workshops, open to the public, covering drawing, painting, collage and print-making, led by expert artists from the Guild.
