RGA Friday

New Normal – A Hybrid World or ‘Back to Normalcy’ ?

Tutor: Anthony Wilder
19th January 2024

This evening it will be a delight to meet people ‘in the round’ in the context of a three-dimensional space where we can make studies of people in motion.

Only three years ago we were all relying on zoom to try to keep things going. People communicated from far and wide but via flat partial images on screen, sometimes accompanied by a sense of isolation.

This evening is about creating 2 dimensional images expressing 3 dimensional people, places and movement, and contrasting this with the recent past.

We will start by discussing all this and considering what painters such as Picasso and Miro can tell us about space and form, as well as looking at more recent work produced during lockdown.

What to bring:

  • The medium of your choice plus photographs/printouts relating to zoom experiences, which could be collaged onto a painting.
  • Scissors and glue.
  • Colourful hats and/or scarves.
