I am a watercolour artist living in Reading, Berkshire. I am primarily self-taught and have been painting for the past five years. I enjoy the medium because of its freshness and unpredictability. I like to try different styles and techniques, and at the moment I enjoy painting different subjects, primarily architecture, nature, landscapes, flora and fauna – although it is not just limited to that. Any subject with deep contrast attracts and inspires me to paint. I am constantly taking pictures to convert to paintings. I like to work from photo references although I enjoy plein air painting too. I take some time to study the subject and break it down to its ‘different stages’. My style is loose impressionistic and I find myself using traditional pure watercolours technique. Watercolour painting has given me immense pleasure and satisfaction. I feel inspired by watercolour painters of today and their different styles. I am constantly learning, experimenting and enjoying the journey.
