Sri Nambiar

I was born and raised in India but moved to Reading, Berkshire in 2012 and been here ever since. I’m a stay-at-home mother of a 3-year-old girl. In the midst of all the chaos that comes with home-making and raising a toddler, I found solace in art. Attending an art class in 2018 fuelled my passion further.

I enjoy working with a range of mediums but charcoal has my heart and soul. The tactile quality of charcoal is so appealing to me as an aspiring artist. The depth of compressed charcoal combined with the light feathery marks of vine/willow charcoal is a beautiful combination to achieve deep contrasts, which is what I naturally do with my work.

Apart from drawing nature and its beautiful silhouettes, I have keen interest in portraiture and figure drawing and find it fascinating to draw people and expressions. I largely work with charcoal (compressed, willow and charcoal pencils) but I occasionally work with other dry mediums like coloured pencils, graphite and pastels.
