I am an artist, printmaker, illustrator and tutor working across various mediums. I enjoy the process of designing, whether a page or a canvas, with any subject matter or material. Traveling is a constant source of inspiration for me, and I always carry a sketchbook and camera to capture moments that later inform my work. Many of my compositions begin with reference drawings and photographs, which I manipulate to fit the page and theme at hand. An example of this approach is my children’s book ‘Meow’ – a day in the life of a cat, which I both wrote and illustrated.
After completing a diverse foundation art year, I trained as an Interior Designer and later worked in this field. I went on to take a further degree in Architectural Conservation and taught art and design at Further Education level for several years. I have continued to teach both groups and individuals after transitioning to pursue my own art work full time. I have exhibited with the Society of Women Artists at the Mall Galleries, Paisley Art Institute, the Royal Glasgow Institute and various group exhibitions. I have won prizes for work in oil and in watercolour.
Commissions welcome.
