As a self-taught artist I re-discovered painting and drawing after attending local artist courses in Wokingham a few years ago which led to life-drawing, and then after venturing outside this year I can safely say that plein-air painting now influences how I approach my work; what story I am looking to portray and contrasts are key, whether it be the balance of light and dark or as in my larger studio pieces where bold bright colours come to the fore. But where time is of the essence, capturing those moments outside is challenging and rewarding, which hopefully you can see from the finished art work.
