Picture of the Month for December 2023 is Caribbean Woman by Isaac Pascal. It was chosen from the Members Gallery by Linda Graves.

Bold and bright were the words which popped into my head when I first glanced at this digital artwork. I was drawn in by the composition of a figure moving from bright sunshine into shadow, creating a sense of movement as the figure turns to gaze at the spectator. The warm and cool colours work in harmony to convey a feeling of heat and sunshine.

The figure has a feeling of solidity and presence, with the bag on the shoulder having a realistic heft, seeming to support the hand that rests upon on it.

The lively pattern on the dress, the hat and the sunglasses all work together to produce a dynamic mood. I like the uncluttered feeling of this image where everything that needs to be said is done without unnecessary detail and that it beautifully captures a fleeting moment in time.
