Picture of the Month for June 2025 is Spring Lagoon by Jo Lillywhite. It was chosen from the Members Gallery by Michael Norcross.

I am very pleased to choose ‘Spring Lagoon’ a work of the month. Jo has produced something which has admirable qualities which intrigue the eye and allow you into the space. I like the way she suggests the woods are real, and yet without too much realistic detail. I love the light touch and thin veils of pale colour which allow the eye to wander in and out among the trees and the reflections in the water. It gives the painting a dreamlike quality which is restful and yet encourages you to venture further in to explore the space beyond the far bank. I like the ambiguity of the forms in the distance and the kaleidoscope of reflections which ask questions and I like the way she uses colour. Altogether, I find it a lovely journey and a pleasure to look at.
