I have chosen Esperanza’s self portrait as the picture of the month.

Her portraits have this amazing visceral sentiment to it. In her self portrait her warm gaze creates a sense of connection. I’m also drawn to her painting style which makes the portrait feel soft and hazy almost like a memory. Having seen her work in person, I can easily say that she has the ability to capture the essence of her sitter.
